Overview 

Viral Conjunctivitis is a highly contagious eye infection caused by viruses, most commonly adenoviruses. It affects the conjunctiva, the thin membrane covering the white part of the eye and inner eyelids.

Viral conjunctivitis spreads easily through direct contact, respiratory droplets, or contaminated surfaces. Although usually mild, it can cause significant discomfort and requires proper hygiene and care to prevent transmission.

Types of Viral Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye)

• Adenoviral Conjunctivitis: Most common type
• Herpetic Conjunctivitis: Caused by herpes simplex virus
• Epidemic Keratoconjunctivitis (EKC): Severe and highly contagious form
• Pharyngoconjunctival Fever: Associated with fever and sore throat
