Overview 

Vestibular Neuritis Disease is a condition caused by inflammation of the vestibular nerve, which is responsible for maintaining balance and spatial orientation. This inflammation disrupts communication between the inner ear and the brain, leading to sudden and severe dizziness (vertigo).

It usually occurs suddenly and can significantly affect balance and daily activities. Although not life-threatening, it can be distressing and requires proper evaluation and management.

Types of Vestibular Neuritis

• Acute Vestibular Neuritis: Sudden onset of severe vertigo lasting several days
• Chronic Vestibular Dysfunction: Persistent balance issues after the acute phase
• Recurrent Vestibular Neuritis: Rare episodes of repeated inflammation

Symptoms of Vestibular Neuritis

• Sudden, severe vertigo
• Loss of balance
• Nausea and vomiting
• Difficulty walking or standing
• Blurred vision
• Dizziness worsened by head movement
• Fatigue

Causes of Vestibular Neuritis

• Viral infections (most common)
• Reactivation of herpes virus
• Upper respiratory infections
• Inflammation of the vestibular nerve

• Anxiety or fear of movement
