Overview 

Takayasu Arteritis is a rare chronic inflammatory disease that affects the large arteries, particularly the aorta and its major branches. It causes thickening, narrowing, or blockage of blood vessels, which can reduce blood flow to different parts of the body.

The condition mainly affects young women and can lead to symptoms such as fatigue, limb weakness, and differences in blood pressure between arms. Early diagnosis and treatment are essential to prevent serious complications like stroke or organ damage.

Types of Takayasu Arteritis Disease

• Type I: Affects branches of the aortic arch
• Type II: Involves ascending aorta and its branches
• Type III: Affects thoracic and abdominal aorta
• Type IV: Involves abdominal aorta and renal arteries
• Type V: Combined involvement of multiple regions

Symptoms of Takayasu Arteritis

• Fatigue and general weakness
• Fever and weight loss
• Pain in arms or legs during use (claudication)
• Weak or absent pulses
• Dizziness or fainting
• High blood pressure
• Chest pain or shortness of breath
