Macular Degeneration Treatment

Macular degeneration is a common eye condition that affects the central vision. It is often linked to aging it is known as age related macular degeneration (AMD). The macula a small part of the retina, becomes damaged and causing a loss of central vision. There are two main types: wet and dry macular degeneration. Wet macular degeneration is the more severe form where abnormal blood vessels form under the retina, leading to rapid vision loss.

If undergoing macular degeneration surgery, follow pre surgery instructions from your doctor.

• Wet macular degeneration: Injections to stop abnormal blood vessel growth.
• Dry macular degeneration: Vitamin supplements, lifestyle changes and possibly laser therapy.
• Macular degeneration surgery: Considered for advanced cases though less common.

1. Before:

Quick procedure usually done in the doctor's office and involving injections or laser treatments.

3. After:

Mild discomfort, possible blurry vision with a need for follow up care and rest.
