Wolfram Syndrome

Wolfram Syndrome is a rare inherited condition characterized by a combination of Diabetes Insipidus, Diabetes Mellitus, Optic Atrophy, and Deafness (DIDMOAD). It affects multiple organs, particularly the endocrine system and nervous system.

This condition typically begins in childhood and progresses over time. Early diagnosis and multidisciplinary care are essential to manage symptoms and improve quality of life.

Types of Wolfram Syndrome Disease

• Wolfram Syndrome Type 1 (WFS1): Most common form caused by WFS1 gene mutation
• Wolfram Syndrome Type 2 (WFS2): Rare form with additional symptoms like bleeding disorders and ulcers

Symptoms of Wolfram Syndrome

• Early-onset diabetes mellitus
• Excessive thirst and urination (diabetes insipidus)
