FAQs

Overview

Ureteral Obstruction Disease occurs when the flow of urine from the kidneys to the bladder is partially or completely blocked. The ureters are tubes that carry urine from the kidneys to the bladder, and any obstruction can lead to urine buildup, causing pressure on the kidneys and potential damage.

This condition can affect one or both ureters and may develop suddenly or gradually. Early diagnosis and treatment are essential to prevent kidney damage and other serious complications.

Types of Ureteral Obstruction

  • Partial Obstruction: Urine flow is reduced but not completely blocked
  • Complete Obstruction: Urine flow is fully blocked
  • Unilateral Obstruction: Affects one ureter
  • Bilateral Obstruction: Affects both ureters
  • Acute Obstruction: Sudden onset
  • Chronic Obstruction: Develops slowly over time
