Overview 

Ulcerative Colitis is a chronic condition that causes inflammation and ulcers in the lining of the large intestine (colon) and rectum. It is a type of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that affects digestion and overall health.

The disease usually develops gradually and can lead to symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, and rectal bleeding. Although it is a long-term condition, proper treatment helps control symptoms and maintain remission.

Types of Ulcerative Colitis Disease

• Ulcerative Proctitis: Inflammation limited to the rectum
• Proctosigmoiditis: Affects rectum and sigmoid colon
• Left-sided Colitis: Extends up the left side of the colon
• Pancolitis: Involves the entire colon
• Acute Severe Ulcerative Colitis: Severe and sudden inflammation
