Overview 

Varicella, commonly known as chickenpox, is a highly contagious viral infection caused by the varicella-zoster virus (VZV). It is characterized by an itchy skin rash with fluid-filled blisters, along with fever and fatigue.

Chickenpox is more common in children but can affect adults, where symptoms may be more severe. With vaccination and proper care, most cases are mild and resolve without complications.

Types of Varicella (Chickenpox)

• Primary Varicella Infection: Initial infection causing chickenpox
• Breakthrough Varicella: Occurs in vaccinated individuals (usually milder)
• Congenital Varicella: Infection in a fetus during pregnancy
• Neonatal Varicella: Infection in newborns
