Overview 

Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome is a heart condition in which an extra electrical pathway between the heart’s chambers causes episodes of rapid heart rate (tachycardia).

This abnormal pathway disrupts the normal electrical signals of the heart, leading to irregular heart rhythms. WPW syndrome can affect both children and adults and may be present from birth (congenital condition).

Types of Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome

• Symptomatic WPW Syndrome: Causes noticeable symptoms like palpitations
• Asymptomatic WPW Pattern: Detected on ECG without symptoms
• Intermittent WPW: Symptoms occur occasionally

Symptoms of Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome

• Rapid heartbeat (tachycardia)
• Palpitations
• Dizziness or lightheadedness
• Shortness of breath
• Chest discomfort
• Fainting (syncope) in severe cases
• Fatigue

Causes of Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome

• Extra electrical pathway (accessory pathway) in the heart

Complications of Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome

• Supraventricular tachycardia (SVT)
