Overview

Tonsillitis is an inflammation of the tonsils, which are two lymph nodes located at the back of the throat. It is commonly caused by viral or bacterial infections and is especially frequent in children, though it can affect people of all ages.

Tonsillitis often leads to sore throat, difficulty swallowing, and fever. Most cases are mild and resolve with treatment, but recurrent or severe infections may require medical intervention, including surgery.

Types of Tonsillitis

• Acute Tonsillitis: Short-term infection lasting a few days
• Chronic Tonsillitis: Long-term inflammation with persistent symptoms
• Recurrent Tonsillitis: Frequent episodes of infection
