Cholecystitis is the inflammation of the gallbladder, an organ responsible for storing bile that helps digest fats. This condition typically arises due to the presence of gallstones which leads to infection or irritation in the gallbladder. If left untreated it can cause severe complications that require medical intervention.

Types of Cholecystitis

Acute Cholecystitis: Sudden pain, fever and nausea caused by gallstones.

Chronic Cholecystitis: Long term inflammation leading to scarring and possible dysfunction.

Symptoms of Cholecystitis

Sharp pain in the upper abdomen especially after eating.

Nausea, vomiting and fever.

Bloating and indigestion.

Jaundice (yellow skin or eyes).
